Why Do Oils Leatch Chemicals
Haiku website with turbo boost
long time, the Haiku website not exactly an advertisement for a major feature of haiku: perceived speed by short reaction times. This has now greatly improved.
Oliver Tappe has renewed some Drupal modules, replaced or completely thrown out. Added a "boost" module, which uses mainly when accessing an unregistered visitor to dynamic content such as PHP. Then be used instead of static dynamic pages from the cache. As a result, the performance increases by 30 times and the system responds much better to high loads. The next Slashdot effect can come quietly ...!

research assignment in terms of package manager
Haiku Inc. is always interested in donations received to provide projects that bring us closer to Haiku R1. Now, this is Oliver Tappe applied to explore the depths of the package management. As the recent survey has shown, this feature by many to be considered absolutely necessary for R1 and therefore blocked the beta phase, which is said to contain by definition all the features of the R1.
The job, the more than 160 hours was put out to tender for the nice round sum of $ 2.622 includes, while not yet implemented, but only the study of existing systems and ideas that already exist. Thus, it is already done previously thought and specifies a packet format and a possible PackageFS created. There is also in the Linux world, already formally a proliferation of different administrations package. Since it is close to natural to get inspiration from there and take even entire (sub) systems, if possible.
Who wants to support this and similar projects in the future consider should be whether he grandma green pieces under the Christmas tree not donate Haiku Inc. .

New Coverity scan potential bugs reveals
there after two years for another haiku Coverity Scan. How Urias McCollough reported, analyzed the gcc4 build Haiku r39849 with Coverity v5 (two years ago was still v2.4.1). It was 10 506 potential bugs found. Who
for 'CID #' holds codes in the commit logs lookout to see is that even some of the bugs have been fixed.
Who wants to know precisely what it has to be Coverity should again Stippis comments in the Gazette article read from the last scan .

Haiku makes printing with Gutenprint
OSNews In an interesting report on the porting of Gutenprint is read. Thanks to the donations of many users in a Bounty was Michael Pfeiffer be assisted in this printer driver backend to Haiku to port.
Gutenprint fits seamlessly into the system, setup and configuration is done on the panels of the native "libprint" pressure system. This had to be something it expanded to cover even the additional controls, which offers good print can.
are currently only the basic settings available, but when a bug is fixed in the Layout API are still a lot of other settings available.
In his report describes some of Michael obstacles he had overcome and, finally, gives some interesting figures about his project: the memory footprint of a page in letter-size is at 300 dpi 32 MiB, at 600 dpi 128 Mib.
(kZeilen 51) About 3 / 4 of the new print subsystem come directly from libgutenprint , 17% (11 kZeilen) fall on haikus pressure system libprint and only 5% (3 kZeilen) are the new Gutenprint driver owed.
You see, by using the Gutenprint library could Haikus printer support to efficiently and with relatively little effort currently over 700 printers to be expanded. Thank you for that, Michael!

vote for R1 features
The vote on the R1 roadmap was completed almost two weeks ago. With a news item I wanted to wait a bit to see what came out during the internal evaluation of individual features. Would also arise as to the results so a major discussion on the mailing list can. There has been only briefly about the assessment of the differences between public user voting and the poll talk among the developers.
to the public vote have participated in over 1,600 people (limited to those with SVN write access) on the developer side, it was just 30th Here are the official results on all the items in the survey, highlighted in color in each case the most votes):
All in all, the R1 blocks to developers as users are seen quite similar. Only some questions, opinions diverge. How to read the above linked mailing list thread here could be also a lack of understanding by the users of the cause, since it is quite hardware is close to features that have been misunderstood without deep background knowledge perhaps. But even within
of users and developers we are still not fully agree on every subject, see eg Web + # 21 # 31 with the users, or package manager for the Devs.
Here are a few good discussions necessary; the voting results should be considered so as not already enshrined R1 roadmap!
